Watercolors

O’Callahan’s watercolor paintings are quick sketches of interesting compositions and scenes he saw before him. With a surety of handling, he lays down a wash of colors to achieve a lyrical satisfying result. Upon viewing the painted scene, one can sense the momentary activities and moods he tried to capture.

As typical with O’Callahan’s paintings, the emotional content covers a wide range, with scenes being quiet and lonely at times, and other times filled with activity. These reflect the continuous changes and experimentation he went through during his artistic career.
